At least 5 people are thought to have died in a mid-air collision above Warickshire, near Coventry. It is not yet known how the planes came to collide minutes away from landing at 11.40 this morning.
A joint investigation is underway by Warickshire Fire & Rescue service and Air Accident Investigations, who are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the circumstances of the collision.
The aircrafts involved in the collision are thought to be a MicroLite Aircraft which landed more than a mile away from the other plane, a Cessna. The main area where the Cessna Aircraft has landed is in a wooded area and services are struggling to reach the crash site.
The planes are understood to have been in contact with Air Traffic Control.
Next of kin have been informed.
Reconnaissance Ventures, a Cessna Aircraft company have released a statement confirming that 4 staff have been killed while on a routine aerial survey trip. They had been given permission to land minutes before the crash occurred.
